Let’s face it: time is money. In order to optimize IT team members’ time and allow them to focus on initiatives that bring more value to the business, organizations have increasingly been adopting tools with automation — and it’s paying off.
Nearly three quarters of IT leaders (73%) say that thanks to automation success, employees are saving between 10% and 50% of the time they had spent doing manual tasks.
At Datadobi, we truly believe that automation is what takes IT departments to the next level. This is why one of the most critical components of Datadobi’s vendor-neutral unstructured data mobility engine is its Orchestration & Automation capabilities.
The Orchestration & Automation component can prevent simple mistakes caused by human error that can cause hours — if not days — of troubleshooting and recopying data. Orchestration & Automation reduces deployment times, maximizes revenue and ROI, and prevents individuals from having to monitor the processes involved in unstructured data management projects.
Here’s how:
The Orchestration Layer
The Orchestration layer of the unstructured data mobility engine is designed to carve up any file or object project to create a tailored path forward. Using underlying analytical capabilities, we can map out functionality to create a custom automation process tailored for both on-premises and cloud infrastructure.
This is critical because every cloud and data center environment are completely different. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution for NAS and object datasets.
The Automation Layer
Incumbent tools require end users to manually carve up the source system into smaller unstructured data management projects. These solutions simply cannot handle file and object systems at scale.
In addition, any manual effort in an unstructured data management project can lead to problems from start to finish. One very common mistake legacy solutions make is having two source directories going to the same target, continually deleting each other with each incremental copy.
Datadobi’s Automation layer removes the human element from these processes and allows for projects to be completed significantly faster with less effort over other alternatives. The unstructured data mobility engine will examine the target before a project is started to make sure the directory is empty, preventing multiple migration pairs from targeting the same spot. It also automates the creation of shares and exports and carries over settings and permissions.
Marrying the Two Layers
Here’s what that looks like together. Datadobi’s unstructured data mobility engine will scan storage systems to intelligently look at all NAS and object data across the data storage estate. Following the initial look, we will take that data and determine the best way to manage the file or object system. Once a plan is laid out, our solution will intelligently create the pathway and automate the data management project at hand.
If there ends up being any issue at all moving data, our team will notify you via email or in the GUI. We will not make you go log file diving and spend hours trying to hunt down what went wrong.
Datadobi’s Orchestration & Automation capabilities removes the complexity of unstructured data management projects. With just a few clicks, enterprises can manage file or object data anywhere in their environment.
