Datadobi at SNIA Cloud Object Storage Plugfest: Strengthening Compatibility & Innovation

At Datadobi, we thrive in multi-vendor hybrid clouds because we are the leader in Heterogeneous Hybrid Cloud Management, where seamless migration, replication, and interoperability of unstructured data drives real-world success. That’s why we were honored to participate in the SNIA Cloud Object Storage Plugfest, sponsored by CST, at the end of April in Denver — an invaluable industry event designed to improve cross-vendor functionality and strengthen object storage ecosystems.

Why Plugfest Matters

SNIA is at the forefront of intelligent data storage standardization; it’s a growing community of 200 active organizations, 2,000 contributing members, and a network of over 50,000 IT end users and storage pros. Cloud Object Storage Plugfest epitomized its mission, offering a vendor-neutral space for deep technical discussions, testing, and problem-solving with leading vendors in this space.

This event aimed to enhance compatibility across the S3 ecosystem, address real-world challenges, and eliminate barriers to interoperability.

Datadobi’s Role in a Multi-Vendor Future

As an unstructured data management company focusing on file and object data, including analytics, cross-vendor data mobility, seamless migration, replication, and archiving, Datadobi was well-positioned to contribute at Plugfest.

We worked alongside industry leaders, including IBM, Google, PureStorage, Huawei, Versity, and Microsoft , with discussions moderated by Michael Hoard, CST Chair at SNIA.

Together, we explored emerging challenges in cloud object storage around the AWS S3 protocol, where continuous server-side changes, evolving APIs and fragmented third-party implementations often lead to compatibility issues. Plugfest allowed us to brainstorm, plan, run compatibility tests, experiment, and work collectively on addressing these pain points. We were all learning together and supporting the community.

A Culture of Open Collaboration

One of the defining aspects of Plugfest is the ability to test, learn, and innovate with new and existing products. Participants bring a number of proprietary and open-source applications, work through real-world scenarios, and exchange insights in a confidential, NDA-protected setting, allowing for true technical exploration.

As Plugfest coincided with SNIA’s Storage Developer Conference (SDC), additional discussions emerged around compliance agility, cost optimization, and parallel capacity strategies—all central to Datadobi’s mission of supporting unstructured hybrid-cloud adoption.

Moving the Industry Forward

By fostering open collaboration, Plugfest pushes the industry toward a more reliable, adaptable, and vendor-inclusive cloud storage environment. The shared vision between SNIA and AWS S3 ensures that object storage becomes easier to adopt and integrate into modern applications.

Datadobi is proud to be part of this movement, helping to shape the standards and solutions that will define the future of hybrid cloud.
