Objectives of the role

The VP of Americas Sales will lead the growth of Datadobi in the Americas and report to the Chief Revenue Officer. Having successfully created and become the leader in the unstructured data migration market, Datadobi is now in a unique position to become the leader in the rapidly developing market of unstructured data management. This role will help Datadobi realize its potential in its most lucrative region and achieve three-digit growth.

The VP of Americas Sales will:

  • Be responsible for driving revenues to $100m RR, while growing and leading the sales team as we expand our reach.
  • Drive sales team accountability for achieving sales performance objectives and revenue targets, including ensuring customers are realizing maximum business value through the customer lifecycle, resulting in customer renewal, growth, lifetime value and satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a continuing very high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Execute the go-to market plan for all sales activities and prioritize initiatives that promote three-digit growth and long-term relationships with customers.
  • Continue to develop our culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement.

Job description

While further building sales with the company's successful sales channels (storage vendors and value-added resellers), the VP of Americas Sales will lead the territory reps, and the future development of an account management team, in building direct relationships with Datadobi's more than 1,300 existing enterprise customers and the top 5,000 enterprises in the Americas.

Market Penetration

  • Be proficient in understanding both the business and the technical needs of customers and prospects and have experience in monitoring proof of value.
  • Identify market dynamics and opportunities and steer the Americas sales teams accordingly.
  • Manage senior level customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities when needed.
  • Monitor customer, market, and competitor activity and provide feedback to company leadership team and other company functions.
  • Proactive participation with the development of the business use cases by the head of Product Development to ensure up-to-date field input for the StorageMAP solution.

Planning, Reporting, & Forecasting

  • Play a critical role in business planning, working closely with other senior executives to develop plans, resource requirements, and influence our long-term business strategy.
  • Develop plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s sales goals through direct, channel/vendor, and inside sales teams.
  • Lead ongoing analysis of business performance to support daily operations and quarterly business reviews.
  • Provide detailed and accurate sales forecasting.
  • Compile information and data related to customer and prospect interactions.

Sales Team Development

  • Set targets and provide day-to-day sales coaching for the territory sales team and future Account Manager Team.
  • Define and coordinate sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives.
  • Define and oversee sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets and the company’s goals.
  • Help Datadobi become known as an employer of choice and a sales force that top salespeople want to join.

Sales Operations

  • Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required.
  • Put in place enhanced infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
  • Responsible for input and maintenance of sales data within Salesforce.com CRM.
  • Work in cooperation with Marketing to drive lead generation from contact to close.

The successful candidate’s required skills and experience

  • Entrepreneurial - willing to go the extra mile, strong work ethic, resourceful, "get it done" attitude.
  • 2-3 years as a VP of Sales plus a minimum of 3 years as a sales manager.
  • Track record of closing sales in large enterprises (top 2000).
  • A proven track record in building a sales team during a rapid growth phase in a software company.
  • Helpful to have senior level contacts within the storage vendors, added value resellers, system integrators, Hyperscalers, and large enterprises.
  • Experience of working with partners and a track record of collecting, tracking, and analyzing data.
  • Travel for in-person meetings with customers and partners and to develop key relationships.
  • Previous experience of working with European companies is helpful.
